Abstract
The author has observed the cervical lines of 240 extracted molar teeth from Korean male and female in Seoul, and obtained the following results:
The cervical lines of both buccal and lingual borders were resemble each other manifesting their curvatures downward to the root at mid portions. However, the curvature of the buccal border was more prominent toward the root and also leaned mesially than the lingual border. The location of the most prominent curvatures were coincident with the most bulky portion of both buccal and lingual surfaces of crown. The determination of curvatures seemed depend upon the degree of crown development. There were quite a few saw-like projections appeared on the cervical line where the furcation area and the grooves of the root were.
The cervical lines of both proximal borders were resembled each other manifesting their curvatures upward to the crown at the mid portions. The curvature of mesial border was more prominent toward the crown and also leaned bucally than distal border. The most prominent curvature was located at the concaved portion of both proximal borders and showed an unique form.
